Architecture is the Art of Building. For the Latin author Vitruvius, "In all these things you have to build, you must have solidity, usefulness, and beauty".

Flavian Amphitheater, better known as Colosseum, was started by the Roman emperor Vespasianus in 75 AD and inaugurated by Titus in 80 AD. It was conceived as Arena for shows and martyrdom’s site for first Christians, then it has become, over the centuries, the symbol of Italian architecture. It’s one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Small but amazing, Cattolica di Stilo, located near Stilo, is a jewel of Calabrian art. Set in the rock, it is a Greek-Byzantine temple built in the 10th century. The Cattolica stands above the wonderful Stilaro valley sightseeing.
